What’s lurking in attic?
My grandmother’s front porch view was the deadened trees that shadowed the rear of the multi-story S. Magnolia Street home in Plain Dealing, LA. Rumor has it that a past resident took their own life in one of the upstairs rooms. On one occasion, at about 1:00 am, my brother, cousin and I were sitting on the front porch of my grandmother’s house when suddenly a subtle light came on in an upstairs room. Sure, this might not flag many, but the house was vacant. The curtains were draping undamaged and in pristine condition. Then the light turned to darkness. Soon after, the light came back on, only this time the curtains were ripped into shreds. We immediately ran back inside. Later on, we got the wild idea to shine a light at the home’s direction. During the scan, a hovering figure emerged from one of the trees only to disappear right in front of our very own eyes. Never to be seen again. Another incident occurred while walking to our friend’s house one evening. My sisters and I heard faint footsteps in the yard as the leave’s crunch and crackle mirrored our foot steps on the pavement. One family had a son, close to my age, that invited me in. My better judgement declined the offer. Families came and went, in what seemed to be in short stays, at that old house. My brother and I drove by my grandmother’s old place to reminisce old times and there was that old house. I took a picture of it, only for the house to scare me once again. After I got home, I told my daughter the story and showed her the picture of the house. She immediately handed it back and told me to look at the picture again. To my dismay, she zoomed in on picture and pointed out the upper floor’s windows. One of the curtains was pulled back as if someone was watching us but no one was there.
